Headteacher's Message & School Mission Statement
Samuel Laycock School is committed to providing the highest standards for secondary aged students with Moderate Learning Difficulties (including Autism) in Tameside.
We enjoy purpose built, modern, facilities and work to teach our students to grow up into confident, caring and responsible citizens. With the intensive support possible through our Special School, and subsequent college opportunities, we intend to enable our students to live largely independent adult lives.
I am supremely aware that we are responsible for the vital challenge of statutory education: to insist that our students become the best and most successful they can be! We need to ensure that they have the very best preparation for the next stage of their journey towards adult life and are able to maximise their ‘life chances’. We accept this challenge!
We can only achieve this for our students by working in close partnership with parents and our local community. We work closely with the other Special Schools in Tameside through the Specialist Support School Partnership (SSSP). This partnership provides mutual support and challenge to continually improve our provision for pupils. These schools are; Cromwell High School, Hawthorns School, Oakdale School, Thomas Ashton School and the Tameside Pupil Referral Service.
Welcome to our Website and I hope you have a very positive experience of our school and all that we do for our students.
