Samuel Laycock School

Year 6 Transition update

Unfortunately, on Friday 18th June we were informed by Tameside Council that face-to-face Transition Day days on 1st & 2nd July cannot take place this year. We have been advised that the reason for this is rising infection rates of the Delta variant within the borough.

In response to this, we will be implementing an alternative transition plan:

  1. Thursday 1st July - A virtual programme of transition will be delivered by Samuel Laycock staff through an online platform.  We are hoping that primary schools will be able to accommodate this and support your child with participation in the programme.
  2. Tuesday 6th & Tuesday 13th July - Additional walking tours around the school, as for 22nd these will be by pre-booked time slots.  These tours are for any families who could not make a tour today or who feel their child would benefit from a second visit to Samuel Laycock.
  3. Following the virtual transition day on 1st July, Year 7 Tutor teams will make phone calls to each family.  We may not be able to make all the calls straight after the transition day, yet we will aim to have these completed by Friday 9th July.
