Update for Parents & Carers 04.01.2021
Dear parents and carers,
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our families a safe & peaceful New Year. I understand the challenges that many of our families are facing particularly at this moment. I would also like to thank all our families for completing the survey sent through today. This has proved most helpful in our planning for the best way forward.
Today we have started the process of planning our response to the current situation relating to a later return to school for children and young people nationally, local change to Tier 4, union guidance & information gleaned from staff teams, all of which have been covered heavily by the national media. We are also in the process of updating our risk assessments to reflect the current situation both locally and nationally.
We are still reviewing the introduction of lateral testing in our schools and more information will follow in due course.
Once completed, our Risk Assessment will be published on our website to enable this to be viewed by families.
As you can appreciate this is a complex process and is ongoing, therefore unfortunately we are not in a position at present to open Samuel Laycock to Students tomorrow (Tue 5th January), we will send out a further update tomorrow.
I appreciate that families may be keen for students to return to Samuel Laycock at the earliest opportunity, however the safety of staff, students & their families remain the paramount concern.
